Kittson County Fair

July 9 - Happy Birthday, Bonnie Stinchfield!

Today was a day of ups and downs. Can't say which won out. The new caliper didn't fix the problem.

A couple of blocks down the street and we could again smell burning and the van drove badly. Back to the garage. The next possibility was the pressure relief modulator valve which is basically computer and part of the ABS system, and meant $1600.00 for the part, not to mention labor. Also a 3-4 day wait for the part at the Chevy dealer in Grand Forks, ND, and a tow there. To see if that was it, the mechanic by-passed the Modulator valve and still a problem. The good news is that this proved it's not the big expensive part, but we don't know what it is. So, we will go back again tomorrow and see what else can be tried. We had lunch at the Caribou Restaurant and spent some time at the Library, walked over to the grain elevator to watch a worker load the train cars,

and just hung out and watched the repair job the rest of the time.
These mechanics are the nicest folks- actually, everyone has been super nice here. I think they will solve the problem because it's really bothering them that they can't. The owner lent us a van to use so tonight we went out to the Kittson County Fair, a few blocks away on the edge of town.

It was located right on the edge of the prairie, and was lit by a gorgeous sunset glow.

What a fun time! Brought me right back to my childhood. We looked at the animals, and because it is early in the summer there were lots of baby ones.

We saw the 4-H exhibits and the main Exhibit Halls (competition and commercial). We walked the Midway,

which consisted of a Bingo tent and lots of inflatable, bouncy games for kids,

and of course, anything that could get them wet. We watched the end of the Enduro stock car race.

The winner went something like 180+ rounds. We ate Fair food and talked to several people who had seen us around the last couple of days, or had spent some time chatting with us before. So, we're stuck here but it's a good place to be stuck, making lemonade out of these lemons.
