We left Hythe and continued on to Beaverlodge, another tiny town beside the highway. The town has a huge statue of it's favorite animal (and Canada's national animal). It's 17 feet tall, and 28 feet long, weighing in at 3000 lb. Of course I had to have a photo; it's my totem!

We continued on to Grande Prairie, a large city that even has a few tall buildings. It also has every fast food franchise known to either the USA or Canada. A side note here- we are sad and a little angry to be back in the land of spray paint graffiti and roadside trash. Those are things we did not miss! We are traveling toward Edmonton, through flat land, some of it fields and some treed. We passed this impressive wooden train trestle.

Lots of horses. When we got to Edmonton we saw what is touted as the world's largest boot, in front of a motorcycle shop.

If you add in the ball of twine we saw in Kansas on the way out, this has certainly been a trip of superlatives! Edmonton is a big city, 700,000+ people, tall buildings, multiple-lane traffic, noise- all the things we aren't used to any more. Tonight we are having roast chicken flavor chips with our drinks.

These actually taste pretty good!
