Rocking to Alaska at 18 knots

June 5, 2010

It has been a while since this bog has been updated, however we are now on the Alaska ferry M/V Malaspina running up the east side of Vancouver Island. The cabin that we have is tiny with double decker bunks, a sink and bathroom. We have more room in the van which is off limits until we reach Juneau. It beats pitching a tent on the deck however.

Betty & Tom met us at the ferry terminal in Bellingham and we will be sort of traveling together during the first portion of our exploration of Alaska. We are getting off in Juneau for a couple of days while they are heading straight to Skagway. We'll meet up with them at Don Stewarts in Anchorage around the 13th.

Over the past several days in the Seattle area we divided our time visiting Rick and Debbie Pabst on their farm in Buckley and Fred and Sandy Connell at their camp In Rainier National Forest and home in Seattle.

While in Seattle Candace insisted we visit the Pike Market. We walked around an amazing assortment of fish, flower, and exotic stuff in an old semi open market area. Great looking food and curios. We had a huge sandwich at the famous 3 Girls Place and bought some rainier cherries.
